BOC Event: A Flat Forty (Or Whatever) Ride
BOC Event: A Flat Forty (Or Whatever) RideButler, Pennsylvania 16323
Overview
Please join the Butler Outdoor Club for a flat 40 miles on smooth, paved trails. A good place to try for a single ride mileage PR.
From the Franklin trailhead parking, ride the Allegheny River Trail south 10 miles to the turn point @ the 10 mile marker located 75 feet beyond a red trail gate. All miles in this section are accurately marked and located on the right (river) side of the trail. Return to Franklin trailhead parking to regroup/snack. Ride 10 miles north on Samuel Justus Trail to a turning point marked with orange paint.
Turn Point - North End - Samuel Justus Trail. Return to Franklin trailhead parking with a stop at Casey's Tavern for a mid-day meal - menu.
The Justus Trail ride includes a "Share the Road" section in OIl City. Riders should obey posted traffic signs.
Please note: While this particular ride is designed as a 40 miler, this is also a "casual ride". Riders can turn up at the common start to socialize and ride any distance that suits them: 5 - 10 - 15 - 20 miles. Whatever. This course allows riders to turn at any point. So come out for a fun day of summer riding.
