Annual Event and Photo Contest Highlight Butler County Small Towns' Rich History
(ZELIENOPLE, Pa., June 16, 2025) Towns across Butler County will celebrate their history and heritage for Experience Butler County PA’s History Day on June 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
(ZELIENOPLE, Pa., June 16, 2025) Towns across Butler County will celebrate their history and heritage for Experience Butler County PA’s History Day on June 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Visitors will have free admission to 11 museums and historical sites. Using a QR code, participants can submit a photo capturing their history day experience to enter to win a $50 Butler County gift certificate. Special activities include:
- A Night of the Living Dead-themed zombie meet and greet at Evans City Historical Society
- Tasty treats from a stone-bake oven at Harmony Museum
- Tour of the newly renovated Butler County Historical Society Little Red Schoolhouse
- Historical reenactors in Roebling Park
- Kids' activities in the beautiful Passavant House Garden
In its 4th year, this event continues to grow. The Cranberry Township Historical Society’s Sample Schoolhouse, which dates back to 1874, is a new addition to the event for 2025.
"Celebrating Butler County history gives residents the chance to learn about what brought their families to our county,” stated Rita Reifenstein, corresponding secretary on the Evans City Historical Society board of directors and EBC board member. “It allows visitors to see why we are so proud.”
