BUTLER COUPLE CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY IN ICONIC TOY STORE

BUTLER COUNTY, PA (July 30, 2025) – Most couples wouldn’t be excited to celebrate a milestone anniversary at work, but for Allen and Sarah DiFrischia, it’s the perfect setting.

On Wednesday, July 30th, the couple marked their 20th wedding anniversary by recreating one of their wedding photos at the store Allen manages, Playthings Etc., in Butler, PA.

According to the store’s Facebook post, the couple had their wedding reception inside the newly built “spaceship” building in 2005.

“The day after this great celebration, we began stocking Playthings Etc. with the world's coolest toys,” the post said, “Allen has been our store manager since opening day. And now, 20 years later, both their love story and our toy story are thriving!”

The business has been a family affair long before it opened. Todd and Nadine Shingleton worked with their soon-to-be son-in-law, Allen, to design, build, and create the store.

The toy store is one of Butler County’s unique attractions, featuring a distinctive exterior and being the only place where visitors can buy toys ranging from retro to futuristic, suitable for ages 1-100. As a partner of the tourism office, they received a grant from Experience Butler County this year, which will expand their marketing efforts to attract new tourists and roadside-oddity seekers outside the 50-mile radius of Butler County.

The business will continue celebrating with its own 20th anniversary event on Saturday, September 27.
