Historic Butler-Built Cars on Display Monthly for the Public
BUTLER COUNTY, PA (March 11, 2025) – Experience Butler County and the Butler County Tourism Foundation are partnering with the Butler Chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) to host public open houses showcasing their collection of five antique American Bantam cars.
Open houses start Sunday, March 16th, 1-4 p.m. at the Butler Built garage (110 Barracks Rd, Butler, PA 16001), and continue every third Sunday (excluding April, which will be held the 4th Sunday).
The Bureau's collection consists of a roadster, a panel truck, a pickup truck, a Bantam Reconnaissance Car, and a unique hybrid vehicle named "the popcorn truck," spanning from 1930 to 1943 in production years. Each vehicle in the Bureau's collection tells a unique story of a bygone era, showcasing the craftsmanship and innovation of the automotive industry.
“This event will be an opportunity for education and exposure for this group and the vehicles they work so hard to maintain,” said Experience Butler County President Amy Pack. “I hope this series of events will bring more attention and recognition to their work and our county’s history.”
Butler’s Bantam history dates back to 1935 when the American Bantam Car Company purchased the American Austin Car Company and began to manufacture an American version of the English Austin. In 1940, Bantam made history by creating the world’s original Jeep. This history is celebrated annually during the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival.
