History Week Celebrates Nation’s Birthday & Highlights Butler County Small Towns

(ZELIENOPLE, Pa., June 24, 2026) Events across Butler County will take you back in time, celebrating history and heritage during Experience Butler County (EBC) History Week, Sunday, June 28, through Saturday, July 4. From historical reenactors and museum tours to free kids' crafts and games, there is something for every history buff at this year’s event.

Butler County is home to house museums, restored schoolhouses, and artifacts from places like the Bantam Car Company, which invented and produced the Jeep prototype. These places are run mostly by volunteers who have been working hard to put together a variety of patriotic festivities.

“Butler County has so much history to share, and what better time than during our country’s 250th celebration?” said Karen Hungerford, EBC Board Member and Treasurer of the Zelienople Historical Society. “With all of the museums open, we are hoping that everyone will take this opportunity to visit and learn about our rich history.”

The public is invited to sign up for the Experience Butler County History Week Passport, where they will be able to “check in” at events and historic landmarks during the week. Each check-in enters participants into our drawing for Butler County Gift Cards, redeemable at 70+ locations in Butler County, including hotels, restaurants, shopping, and attractions.

“This event launches us into a season of major events, many with their own historical significance,” said Amy Pack, President of Experience Butler County, PA. “Our county fairs, the Butler Farm Show, the Moraine State Park Regatta; all of these events have history as part of the experience.”
