Jennings Environmental Education Center

Blazing Star Trail

Home to the vibrant blazing star flower, Jennings Environmental Education Center is a unique park featuring both prairie and forest landscapes along with a diverse network of trails. The 20-acre protected prairie ecosystem supports rare and distinctive wildflowers; you might even see a goat or two along the way!

Length: .22 out-and-back
Terrain: Easy
Scenery: Vibrant flowers, pollinators
Leashed dogs allowed.
Tip: Extend your stroll with a walk on the North Country National Scenic Trail. Jennings Environmental Education Center also has an ADA-compliant trail!

Historic Preston Park

Preston Park Loop

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this park is perfect for a peaceful stroll among beautiful blooms! Open from dawn until dusk, you can stop and smell the flowers blooming, including a lily pond, a lilac grove, and much more.

Terrain: Easy
Scenery: Shaded spots, rhododendrons, historic features

Moraine State Park

Sunken Garden Trail

Known for its scenic beauty and trail variety, Moraine State Park is a hiker’s dream come true. Explore wildflower-rich paths through forests, fields, wetlands, and lakefronts. No matter which trail you choose, you’ll surely find flowers blooming.

Scenery: shoreline views, various habitats

Tip: For a more difficult hike, try the Hilltop Trail, where you’ll find different stages of forest regeneration.

Each season boasts different blooms on this pollinator trail in Moraine State Park. Skip or stroll along the trail and experience a variety of wildlife and native blooms!

While primarily known for biking, the Butler-Freeport Community Trail is also a lovely spot for a wildflower walk. Stretching over 20 miles, it offers a peaceful escape with spring blooms lining the pathway. Flat and easy to navigate, it’s perfect for all ages.

Scenery: Buffalo Creek, small waterfalls

Tip: Stop at Derailleur Bike Shop Cafe for a bite and explore the trail at your own pace!
